is romance dead?

i've been pondering this question for a while now and i've seem to be satisfied with the answering of my own question.

before hand lets discuss a little background on this question. for the past couple of weeks i've been asking most of my friends over and over this question trying to find some reasoning in life, trying to find a little understanding. To my knowledge and understanding very few agree that romance still exist. With the way relationships are headed these days i myself feel that romance is uncomfortable and is rather easily replaced by fun personalities and cornyness, after all a girl wants a guy who can make her laugh... and is turned off by serious sentimental gush no?

then again reading that last paragraph one can't help think... but without romance in life does that mean that the magic in relationships is gone? well to answer that question i would have to define romance and its certain aspects...

romance is intercollated with love am i right? (just nod yes) so therefore im saying if romance is dead then love is dead too (you don't have to nod this one) ahh there's a falicy in this statement then. how can love exist without romance? the answer is simply seen in form of a question... what kind of romance? now we're getting somewhere

what do u mostly associate love and romance with? chocolates... poetry... chivalry... the perfect date... etc etc..
am i right? and WHERE do we find this notion of romance?

in the media... that is right!! we are taught by the media that this kind of romance is the romance that must exist to foster love. taught by the media!! this is where i seperate the boundaries between television romance and REAL romance

romance encountered on tv... should stay on tv... thats it basically
i mean don't get me wrong...that's incredibly lovely stuff...love poetry... falling into each others arms for a first kiss... ur first date eating kfc, sitting on grass in a park (no one laugh... that's something that i've done alright?!)

AS LONG AS ITS IN CONTEXT AND AT ITS PROPER TIME AND PLACE

romance like that in our daily basic lives really really is misleading...
those who agree that romance is dead only believe so because
they have this televised romance within their mindset and realize that it doesn't work in a real relationship

they have often tried it off in the beginning with wonderful sparks
only to realize that the movie romance they have doesnt have the movie happy ending that they want

the innocence of these youthful romance is disappated
to protect oneself from being hurt in the future... as they come to believe romance is a crock of ..*ahem...

you guys follow so far? let me provide an example

(enter the hopeless romantic -> thats yours truly)

it was the fourth of july of last year...
after an incredible chance of fate, my friends ask me to go to anaheim with them to meet some people while i was on the phone with this girl i've been talking to who lives up there...

i quickly jump on the oppotunity to head over there with them with the slight hope of seeing my girl...
she is busy most of the day im down there and my friends are tied up with their girl's on the other side of town...
it doesn't look promising but i'm fine... i didn't expect much... i just hoped there was a chance for me to see her...

then towards the end of the day we started talking to each other...she was finally free and she told me she and her friends were going to get food and she was wondering if i could meet her somewhere...

of course i said yes~

i thought i would be gone a short while and i was worried about leaving my friends behind for a while, but one of my friends offered to accompany me... that made me feel a little bit better

so we went...
i was following the directions given to me from a place i wasnt really familiar with, to a place i wasn't familiar with either!
but hopefully i thought to myself that i would get there...

after her and her friends got food the moved to this little spot on the side of the road, overlooking the anaheim valley. it had a bench and was a perfect place for a picnic. that is where i spotted them when i finally made my way through the directions

i saw her that day and she looked so beautiful... like an angel... we introduced our friends to each other and we got along greatly... the night came soon after and the magic started

the spot they had chosen was not only a wonderful place for a picnic, but a wonderful place to view the fireworks on that night. it was beautiful... i was next to her under those lights... and for a few fleeting moments i was happy...

we watched the sky light up over and over... and i couldnt help to think to myself how perfect everything was...

then the sprinklers turned on
hahaha we didnt think they would spray the whole place so we stayed around to finish off the fire works...
but we were wrong

i didnt want the girl i came to see to get wet so i grabbed her and faced my back towards the sprinklers and shielded her from the water...

i got soaked of course...but what can i do =P
we decided to leave soon after that...

she invited me over to her house and offered to give me a quick change of clothes...
she gave me her beater and a few pictures...
(i still treasure these gifts from her till today... and i get nostalgic whenever i see them)

we said our goodbyes and i told her how much i enjoyed seeing her and i headed off to see my friends on the other side of town...

i left with a light heart and i was just floating off the ground i bet...

...that was the last time i had ever seen her...
to this day that is my best memory of her...

very romantic...but... the relationship never went beyond that...

the time i spent with her was beautiful and all...but
my heart was never satisfied in the end and i still miss her...

i thought romance and love corrollated...
but i was proven wrong and the innocence within me had been lost
romance at that point became meaningless...

is that a little bit clearer...
i mean what point is there to romance after that?
it is no longer valued...

but that is television romance =P
it should stay on tv...

i do not believe that TRUE romance is dead...
i do believe that love and romance do corrollate
but love comes first... then romance

any way else is sure to be misguided forms of compassion...

in a relationship, a real one...
i do plan on taking a girl out
walks on the beach
picnics

i do plan to write her poetry... (a side of me that is dormant, but not dead)

but that will come later...
i do not wish to flaunt my romantic nature anymore...
why just give something away like it is nothing...

...romance will never die...
not as long as i still breathe...
it lives inside in me...
and all who call themselves

hopeless romantics

May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you....May you be content knowing you are a child of God.... Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of you.
